The Power of the Fetish

As the artist carefully carves a fetish, he is thought to be one with the spirit of the animal h/she is depicting. The artists prays over the work, thereby assisting the strengths of the depicted animal to be gathered into the object. Once the fetish is finished, it is meant to be given to another for a specific purpose or on a special occasion. The receiver of the fetish can obtain the power and strength of the Fetish by placing the Fetish face towards his or her face and breathing in from the nostrils of the Fetish to his or her own mouth. The power of the Fetish will help the owner of the Fetish with problems of the mind, body or universe. The more a Fetish is esteemed and cared for, the better is is said, the Fetish will work. Most Fetishes relate to nature and animals, embodying the strengths and characters of their models.
